#VCP
The virtual hardware version is usually first determined when the VM is deployed/created. Generally VMware recommends to only update the vHW version if any of the features in the newer versions are needed.
Due to spectre/meltdown it is highly recommended to have vHW v9 to mitigate the vulnerabilty and at least version 11 to have the performance mitigations for these security vulnerabilites.
## Update
Can be done in Lifecycle manager tab at Cluster level.
Either schedule or upgrade instantly, when scheduled the upgrade will be done when the guest OS is rebooted next time.
